Handmade Ribbon Bracelet

As you all know I love anything GIRLY and my daughter is turning 2 in June and I can't believe that my baby girl is going to be 2! She's a proper madam and a mummy's girl for sure.

When I saw these super chic handmade ribbon bracelets from Jennifer Rose Jewellery, I thought of her and knew she would love them, I adore items which are handmade. I think it gives that edge making it unique and special.

20120226-205042.jpg

The bracelet is easily secured by tying the ribbon in a cute girly bow. You can purchase other colour options such as green and purple, they're all very pretty. I like how the bracelet is sturdy and you can tell this will last some play time! These would make lovely gifts.

20120226-205302.jpg

I was very impressed with how the bracelet came packaged, it really gave the feeling of something special. Like a lot of love and care had gone into the making of the bracelet. Also a great sense of pride as well, which was really lovely I thought.

You can purchase this super sweet Handmade Ribbon Bracelet online from www.jenniferrosejewellery.co.uk

My Mary Poppins Bag!

I've been wanting to blog about my Mary Poppins bag for a while now and because the sun is shining and the sky is blue I thought it was a perfect day so take some snap shots of it.

Now most of you know I'm a busy mummy of 2 children and also a childminder, so I need a bag which will hold all my stuff and the children's. So meet my Mary Poppins Bag!

A gorgeous Cath Kidston Messenger Bag made from cotton.

20120229-110157.jpg

20120229-110246.jpg

I bought this bag when I was pregnant with my daughter who is now 20mnths, I liked the bright floral print which was really girly and pretty. I picked the Messenger bag because I liked how deep the bag was. I also wanted a bag which had a long enough strap to be worn across the body so that I had my hands free.

20120229-110403.jpg

Inside are two personal pockets which I store my mobile and other little bits, there is also a nice roomy pocket on the front of the bag which fastens by a brass popper.

20120229-110435.jpg

The strap is very thick and heavy duty and doesn't cut into your shoulders if the bag is heavy with items. I like the rainbow strip design and you can adjust it to suit your preference.

I would love to know if you have a Mary Poppins Bag?

ghd styling products

I've been trying some hair styling products by ghd, and wanted to share my thoughts with you lovely bunch.

ghd have a great selection of hair styling products, whenever I hear ghd mentioned or read about the brand I always think hair straighteners, which to be fair is what they are renowned for but after learning a bit more about the brand my perception has grown.

20120225-211156.jpg

Final Shine Spray is the business! This is my favourite hair styling product. You may think yeah yeah you've seen them all before, one shine spray the same as the rest of them. NO, seriously now ladies & gents this doesn't just give your hair a nice shine it literally transforms your hair into dazzling locks. When I first tried this I sprayed it onto my wavy hair, I basically went a little retro and plaited my hair after I washed it and then slept in it. So when I woke and untied the braids my hair was all wavy like a mermaid. I clipped back sections and pinned them to the crown. To finish off I used the Final Shine Spray. When I finished and and was tidying up I couldn't believe how shiny my hair looked, under the light it literally was dazzling. Now I'm not sure if that's because I have darker hair or if you would get as good a result on blonde hair but I know you would on red hair. I'm bridesmaid at the end of this month and I can't wait to use it again. I plan on curling my hair and using the Final Spray will really accentuate the curls.

This is not a hair spray which will hold your style, so chances are you would use this last? It smells very reminiscent of an old fashioned smell I think but I can't quite put my finger on it.

£9.95 / 100ml

20120225-211728.jpg

Straight & Smooth spray is perfect for every day use and ghd even suggest to use a spritz in between washes to refresh you hair when using your styler to straighten. I've used this on wet hair and then once dry I have straightened my hair and it felt so soft and the plates just glided over my hair.As with all the ghd styling products they have a really nice subtle scent which leaves your hair smelling fresh and like you've just been to a salon. You can kiss good bye to frizzy unruly hair, with just 4-6 sprays depending on your hair style and length. You can also spray onto dry hair and then style as you would normally.

£12.95/ 120ml

20120225-212820.jpg

Smooth and Finish Serum is great for adding shine and smoothing down your hair, if you have dry spilt ends which resembles straw then this is a must for you! A serum is like a face cream you wouldn't not apply face cream would you? So think the same for your hair and the spilt ends. If you keep treating them and applying the serum as a treatment especially if you use styling tools on your hair or if you colour hair this would really help the condition.

Not to be used just for straight hair but great for curls and waves, when i plait my hair and then sleep in it, the next day it does have a tendency of looking a bit scarecrow-ish. However once i've applied a pump of this my hair is frizz free and a lot smoother and sleek. I use one pump and rub between my palms and then apply it to my mid-end lengths and then rub the ends between my palms for a little extra.

£14.95 / 30ml

20120225-212851.jpg

Total Volume Foam is great if you want an extra kick to your hair. If you think your hair is limp and lifeless then this is a MUST for you! I've loved using this to create some extra root lift and then back combing at the crown and clipping back sections of my hair. The mousse contains the ghd heat protectant system so whatever styling tools you use on your hair, you can be rest assured it's protected. I found the mousse easy to use and not thick and gloppy, my hair easily absorbed it. I've found you get a really good result if you apply it to damp hair in sections and then blow dry.

£14.95 /

Have you seen or tried any of these products? I would love to know what you think?

KORRES fragrance - Paeonia/ Vanilla/ Amber Pear

KORRES have a range of lovely fragrances and I've been using 2 of them! They are such beautiful scents which are very feminine and sophisticated. Today I'm going to blog about Paeonia / Vanilla / Amber Pear, just typing these key notes make this sound a very feminine fragrance. I really like the packaging, the fragrance is encased in a very hard wearing cardboard which actually represents a book and when you open up the box the text inside reads the history of the scent. The bottle itself is very strong and made of thick heavy glass, the white lids a very different from anything you would expect to be on a perfume bottle but Korres are very true to their brands heritage and their ethos and this represents the pharmacies and homeopathic feel. I really like the bottle, very different looking from your traditional perfume bottle but still very striking and bold.

20120221-132739.jpg

Intensely feminine, distinct character

Top notes

Pear, Apple, Bergamot

Heart notes

Peony, Jasmine, Rose, Patchouli, Sage, Peach

Dry out

Amber, Musk, Sandalwood, Vanilla

Korres say-

Peony blossoms were believed to be the Olympian gods’ gift to Healers and were adored by mortals as a panacea.

The concise aura of the peony scent unveils a yet to be tamed character, reminiscent of the high mountains where this beautiful flower grows.

Derived from tropical climbing orchids, the vanilla pod is believed to awaken the senses and induce dreams of love.

A sublime ingredient with a distinctively sweet and seducing aroma.

Pear trees, heavy with sunborn juicy fruits and scents of joy; fruits that lose their rich taste as they ripen, yet become even more fragrant, releasing a long lasting aroma.

You can purchase this particular scent as well as the other fragrances online from www.bathandunwind.com

Have you tried or seen Korres fragrances?

Mary Berry - yummy Cherry Bakewell cup cakes!

Now this is a long over due blog post and I've been meaning to post this for some time. For Christmas my hubby bought me the The Great British Bake Off How to Bake book! I loved watching the series and even enjoyed the Sports Relief special they showed earlier this year. My son decided we should bake something from the book so we both decided on the yummy Cherry Bakewell Cup cakes.

20120226-143356.jpg

The lovely Nicoletta has asked me for the recipe and I thought a blog post with some yummy photos would be perfect. Sorry it's taken so long hun!

20120226-143416.jpg

Here's the recipe-

Cherry Bakewell Cup Cakes

Makes 12

For the cup cakes:
150g unsalted butter, very soft
150g caster sugar
100g self raising flour
3 large eggs, at room temperature, beaten
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
60g ground almonds
1tbsp milk at room temp
4 tbsps raspberry jam

For icing:
250g icing sugar
Roughly 3 tbsps strained fresh lemon juice
12 glacé cherries ( non-dyed) rinsed and dried.

1 x 12- hole muffin tray, lined with paper muffin or cup cake cases.

Preheat the oven to 190c/375f/gas5. Beat the butter with an electric mixer until creamy. Add all the other ingredients for the cup cakes, except the jam, and beat until light and creamy.

20120226-143510.jpg

20120226-144229.jpg

Spoon the mixture into the cup-cake cases, diving it evenly. Level the mixture in each case using your fingertip. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch, and a skewer inserted into the centre of a cup cake comes out clean. Remove each cup cake from the tray and place on a wire rack. Leave to cool completely.

20120226-144401.jpg

20120226-150429.jpg

To make the icing, soft the icing sugar into a mixing bowl and work in enough of the strained lemon juice to make a thick, but spoonable and running icing. Set aside.

20120226-153444.jpg

Using an apple corer, remove the centre from each cup cake, cutting only two-thirds of the way down. Store the jam with a teaspoon until it is a little runny, then carefully spoon into the holes in the cup cakes until the jam just reaches the top ( don't over-fill ).

20120226-151134.jpg

20120226-152113.jpg

Beat the icing using a teaspoon, then spoon it over the top of each cup cake to flood the surface until the icing reaches the sides of the paper case. Take care that the jam doesn't become mixed into the icing. Add a cherry to the middle immediately and leave to set.

20120226-153557.jpg

20120226-153630.jpg

We love coconut in our house so I sprinkled some desiccated coconut on top of few cup cakes, once you bite into them you have a yummy jammy surprise!

20120226-153936.jpg

These cupcakes did not last a weekend and where devoured within a day & half!

I hope you enjoyed the post! let me know if you give them a go.
