KORRES Blusher & Bronzer review plus more!

Following on from my KORRES blog posts I said I was going to blog about the products in more detail. It's exciting when you discover a brand you've not tried before and then only to find out their products are great. It's been so refreshing and exciting, I love that exciting feeling you get. When did you last feel like that over a product or a brand? Please share below and comment!

If you follow my blog it won't be no surprise when I say I have a weakness for blushers, Korres blushers have such a smooth velvety finish to them which is very pleasing for a blusher-aholic like myself. I have 2 shades which I've been using and have found myself reaching for the Purple 22 shade mostly, probably because of this time of year. The other blusher called Peach is a beautiful Coral shade with a hint of gold shimmer through it. I know this will become my reach for shade in the summer.

Korres say-

Velvety blush for a luminous effect. With corn starch powder particles for a smooth and even finish. Soft creamy texture for an easy and uniform application and a wide colour pallet ranging from natural to more bright and intense shades.

Monoi Oil Bronzing Powder has been a must for me lately, this is my perfect contour shade thanks to the matte velvetly texture it applies and blends so easily. I have shade 01 Sunglow light which is ideal for this time of year, if you are a little darker then I would opt for shade 02. The bronzing powder is larger in size than the blushers, the compact is still very much the same colour and design. I like the nice big mirror inside which is always a bonus when on the travel or going on holiday. I like to use my large fluffy face brush and apply this all over and then concentrate on contouring my cheeks bone.

Korres say-

A velvety, tinted powder that provides the skin with a naturally tanned look. Its formula allows gradual colour build-up and an even, flawless result. The Sunglow Light Shade is ideal for light skin tones, especially those that have not been exposed to the sun, while Sunglow Warm is best for a deeper tan look. Monoi oil moisturises and nourishes the skin.

I mentioned the KORRES Wild Rose foundation in my previous post and wanted to give some more info here, the foundation is a long lasting one with a SPF 20 which is great for all year round and comes in 6 shades. I struggled whether to go for the lightest shade or the second shade. I have more yellow in my skin rather than pink so opted for the second shade and I'm glad I did. Especially with the summer this is perfect. If you have a very pale English rose complexion I would say the first shade would probably be best suited as I think that one has pink tones to it, but I'm not 100% sure so do some digging and check out some swatches on YouTube if you can. I like how my skin feels when I have this on and find the coverage great, I have a little redness on cheeks and build up the foundation more in the areas I need. I like the smell but not sure about the bottle, I think if it had a little pump on it would be good for 'butter fingers' like me! Mind you I have been extra cautious and treated the foundation like liquid gold and very carefully pour some onto the top of my hand and then use my brush to apply. My skin definitely looks flawless when I wear this and seeings I'm turning the big 30 this year I need more coverage and a SPF.

Korres say-

Long-lasting foundation for a flawless, radiant finish. Smooth to apply and easy to blend, it offers natural-looking coverage plus SPF 20 sun protection. Wild Rose, a natural source of vitamin C, works to repair fine lines and brighten uneven skin tone.

O.P.I Nicki Minaj Collection- Save Me Swatches

Sparkly sparkly, I've just painted my nails with the new Save Me polish from the Nicki Minaj O.P.I collection. If you follow my blog then you'll know I'm a magpie for glitter and sparkles so I knew this polish would feel right at home in my collection. O.P.I have teamed up with platinum-selling recording artist Nicki Minaj to release 6 limited edition nail lacquers.

20120129-154257.jpg

I find that 3 coats gives a good enough coverage if you're using this over the top of a colour. If you wanted to use this by itself I would say 3-4 coats would do the job. Some people would say ' ah I can't be bothered with that!' but in all honesty I think it's worth it because once you layer this polish up you soon see the gorgeous blue and gold holographic strips of glitter. The polish is long lasting thanks to the glitter so I personally think it's worth the work.

This is the first glitter polish with actual strips of glitter in that I own and I love the contrast of blue and gold holographic strips. They dry flat which is great, the polish feels nice and smooth when dry which was very pleasing because with some glitter polishes the flakes sometimes on't dry flat then they look and feel bumpy on the nail.

I opted for Sweetheart which is a nude blush shade for my base colour, I wanted Save Me to still be the main standout shade and often find if you pick a bright colour it sometimes takes the eyes away from the pretty glitter.

Save Me is available from www.lenawhite.co.uk and retails at £10.50.

What's your favourite shade from the Nicki Minaj collection?

Clarins Eau des Jardins

With spring and summer to look forward I've already been using some products which make me feel fresh and happy. One of them is a lovely fragrance by Clarins, now I know when you think of fragrance you probably don't think of Clarins but hopefully after reading this post you will.

Eau des Jardins is a very natural fresh treatment fragrance which contains essential oils and plant extracts, upon the first spray you are taken back by the sparkling scent of grapefruit and orange zest. With notes of rose and wood you experience an uplifting treat.

20120126-214824.jpg

Clarins say-

A surprising combination of essential oils and plant extracts with aroma and phytotherapy benefits. The sparkling freshness of fruity zests, a captivating note of wild rose and the scent of comforting wood. All the charm of a dream-like garden combined with the skin care benefits of beech, sorbier and blackcurrant bud extracts. Moisturises, soothes and ensures beautifully soft skin.

As you can see this is a very generous 100ml sized bottle, which normally retails for £28.50 but Escentual.com currently have a special price of £ 22.80 which is great value! So treat yourself for the spring/summer, this is such a lovely fragrance that I find myself spritzing it even after I step out of the shower of the bath of an evening. I just find it so peaceful and enjoyable to wear.

Today's Makeup...

I've reached for my KORRES makeup again which is a great sign. Today I've used the Wild Rose foundation with Bronzing Powder 01 and Purple blusher with Jasmine Lip Butter and it's such a pretty soft look. The bronzing is great for paler skins and is the perfect shade for myself for contouring. What I have found out since using KORRES products is how well they blend and you can build up the shade or the product you're working with.

I'm loving KORRES

I have been using some new makeup these past few days and already I'm smitten with the brand KORRES. For those of you who aren't familiar with KORRES I will give you a brief outline of the brand, KORRES is a Greek skincare brand with roots from Athen's first homeopathic pharmacy in 1996. KORRES are renowned for their top quality ingredients and the process which they follow, they have over 400 natural and certified organic products. They are known worldwide with over 25 stand alone stores and can also be found at exclusive department stores and in over 5,000 pharmacies in homeland Greece. if you would like to read up on their brand and learn more about their amazing research into the natural ingredients then check out their website here- KORRES

One of my favourite products has to be their Lip Butters, these are amazing and feel like I've been missing out for years! I really recommend you try their Lip Butters, they have a range of butters only costing £6 which is great value. I like their cute neat packaging, very minimal but it works perfectly.

20120125-101511.jpg

20120125-101536.jpg

These are great for dry chapped lips which alot of people suffer all year round like myself, with key hydrating ingredients such as shea butter and rice wax these will help any sad lips. I'm not surprised one is sold every minute and has been featured in many national magazines! So join the club and treat yourself to one today, you'll be thanking me!

These little pots of magic are great to carry round in your handbag and give your lips a really good layer of hydration but also a nice hint of colour on the lips. Quince is beautiful and probably my favourite shade for the moment, however Pomegranate is a beautiful shade for the summer I think and Jasmine is a gorgeous shade for all year round. What I also love about the Lip butters is the fact these would suit all skin types and shades, whether you are very pale in skin or olive these will look great.

20120125-102233.jpg

They have a little protective lid which helps keep the product nice and clean. They each have their own subtle scent and all of them are very nice and none are off putting at all. I've been applying them and then sniffing them like crazy before screwing the lid back on ha ha!

Pomegranate, Quince & Jasmine

Today I'm wearing Pomegranate Lip Butter, Peach Blush and Wild Rose Foundation, the Blush beautifully packaged and feels just like velvet. They give just the right amount of pigmentation and blend effortlessly. I will be posting about the Blush & Wild Rose foundation in more depth soon so watch this space!

20120125-102531.jpg

I wanted to give you a sneak peek at the blush so you can see what I mean about the lovely chic packaging and the velvet smooth finish.

OCC Lip Tars

I've been busy mixing away this weekend with 2 Lip Tars from the brand OCC (obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics). The brand name is good don't you think? I really like it, very fitting I think. I'm sure many of you have seen if not tried a Lip Tar but for those of you who haven't I will briefly describe what they are. Lip Tars look like lip glosses but are in fact like a paint. They dry on the lips pretty quickly and have great staying power. Lip Tars are incredibly pigmented and only a small amount needs to be used, lips are transformed instantly. They have a satin finish to them once dry but you can apply a clear gloss over the top of you like a shinny glossy lip. OCC are 100% Vegan, free from parabens and other nasties and Cruelty Free which is fantastic. They have a very subtle smell of peppermint which is down to the peppermint oil. They are not drying thanks to the Hemp Oil, but if you do suffer from dry lips like myself I would suggest you apply a little lip balm before applying these.

20120121-145450.jpg

20120121-151210.jpg

20120121-151054.jpg

Trollop is a bright pink coral shade, I think being a little tanned and wearing this on the lips with just mascara would look stunning in the summer!

Memento is a very wearable shade and one of the most popular I would say. It's a gorgeous plum pink, I would go as far as saying my lips but better shade.

A little tip would be to apply a layer of lip balm first because if you have dry flaky lips like myself, these paints can show that up when dry so just give your lips a layer of balm and dab it in. If they are particularly dry use a lip scrub first then lip balm and then use the Lip Tars. It'll be worth the preparation when you see how pretty they are and how well they last.

20120122-102807.jpg

I use my EOS lip balm first then I'm all set to go. You did need to apply these with a brush though because else you can't get a neat line around the edge of your lips using a finger. They do have the slanted applicator tip which is handy but me personally would still use a brush to apply. Especially if you mix the paints you will need a brush and a little mixxing pot, you don't need to rush out and buy an artist mixing palette. A lid of something would be fine like the lid to a a tub of butter or ice cream tub.

I took some photos showing you in different light settings. I mixed Trollop with Memento to create a beautiful warm pink shade which I'm currently wearing today and it's gorgeous!

Trollop & Memento

Trollop

20120122-124215.jpg

20120122-114729.jpg

Because of the formula of these you need very little, a small amount goes a long way. So be a little gentle when first applying them as you don't want to waste any product unnecessarily.

They have great staying power, so if you have a special event planned then I would recommend these. There's nothing more annoying than having to re-apply your lipstick. I'm going to be Maid Of Honour this Spring and once I tried Memento and saw how pretty and how well it lasted I knew this was my colour for the day. Plus I then thought I could brighten it up with Trollop for the evening. That's another great point to consider is that you can mix these, layer them or wear them individually. There's no right or wrong way of wearing them.

I have already made a list of shades which I want to buy ha ha! They reatail at £8.99 but CutECOsmetics have them stocked for £7.99 which is very good price. Plus they offer free UK Standard postage. So shop away peeps!

Thanks for reading!

The Perfect Duo Origins Cleanser & Clarisonic Mia

As you may well know I have a natural obsession for cleansers. I don't normally use a wash cleanser but think I've been swayed since using one by Origins.
A Perfect World wash cleanser smells amazing and feels really creamy and rich on the skin. I have dry skin which normally feels tight after a wash cleanser, but I must admit my skin doesn't feel like this after using it. This particular cleanser is perfect for combination/dry skin types which is exactly what mine is.

20120118-144015.jpg

20120118-144041.jpg

20120118-144101.jpg

20120118-144121.jpg

This works perfectly with my Clarisonic Mia and is also a great cleanser on it's own, you only need a small amount as it lathers up nicely. I really like the thought that my skin has had a deep cleanse to help detoxify the skin inside and out. My skin is open to the dry harsh weather and also my central heating which is not skin friendly! Plus the environment and all the aggressors which pollute it. Using this gives me the comfort that I am working towards protecting my skin and giving it what it needs and deserves. I'm hoping if I look after my skin it will repay me kindly in years to come and I can look back and think yes it was worth the extra T.L.C.

20120119-225437.jpg

The next step in my routine is by sweeping my freshly cleansed skin with origins United State balancing tonic which feels lovely, I particularly like the tingly sensation. It gives the feeling that the skin is having a nice wake up call, but in a good way. Whilst I have dry skin I still have pores on my nose and get the odd blemish in my t-zone area which is normally hormonal related. I like the theory behind this toner, to help with the oiliness t-zone whilst making sure it doesn't take away the moisture from the dry areas. I've noticed my pores on my nose are looking tighter, whilst I'm under no illusion they well never go I can at least to my best to keep them as minimal as possible. With special ingredients such as Bergamot, Spearmint and Lavender.

20120119-224152.jpg

To finish off I use Origins Brighter by Nature SPF35 day moisturiser which is great for combination/dry skin types. I adore the smell of this one but still think my Night-A-Mins is the best ever smelling face cream of all time! I've been using this to help with my dryness and lack of brightness. Having dry skin may mean no blemishes which is great, however my skin can often look dull and tiered. Since using Night-A-Mins my skin is brighter and fresher in the morning but sadly this is not suitable as a day cream, so instead I've been using the Brighter by Nature skin tone correcting moisturiser. Which has continued the hard job of keeping my skin looking bright and glowing which is great for a busy mummy of 2 little ones! The scent is lovely and smells natural with ingredients such as Japanese Basil leaf, Cucumber, Peony and Vitamin C.

The well loved Night-A-Mins which I truly do love, you can read my review here.

20120119-224530.jpg

You can view all the products mentioned above online at www.origins.co.uk or if you are lucky enough to have a counter near you then you can visit the counter and have a really good chat with the consultant and a nosey at the array of products!

Have you tried Origins skincare? Or have you tried their bodycare/makeup range? Please let me know!

ORLY Buried Treasure!

ORLY have a wide range of stunning polished in a selection of finishes. The newest to my stash is a very stunning metallic gold.
Given the name 'Buried Treasure' I thought of my sons obsession for pirates, treasure maps when I first saw the name. I love the names which ORLY pick, they are so well suit.

ORLY describe this polish as a vintage gold metallic polish, and I would say that's spot on!

The swatches below are showing 2 coats which I found to be enough, the brush and formula is good. ORLY have their award wining gripper cap which is so useful! if you find it a struggle un-screwing the cap then this is very helpful. I find it gives me more control when I paint my nails, so if you're not the best painter in the world then this would be great for you.

I must admit there's not many collections where I LOVE all the shades but my god this collection is beautiful! The shades are all amazing and I would wear them all.

What shades are wearing lately?
